From the moment you step onto Main Street, U.S.A., you’re immersed in the
sights, sounds, and even smells of an early American small town in the 1900s.
Some may feel like they’ve stepped back in time. For others, it’s as if they’re
actors who have stepped onto the set of a movie. Either way, you’re under the
spell of a master showman. For Walt Disney’s intention was to transport you far
away from where you were when you entered Disneyland.
Located in the Main Street Opera House, fascinating walk-through exhibits
honor the man behind the mouse. Walt’s formal and working offices have been
preserved just as he kept them. The theater presentation offers a patriotic
salute to the 16th President of the United States. Even if you’re not a history
buff, you’ll be mesmerized by the sights, fidgeting, and other lifelike
movements of the first Audio Animatronics human figure ever created by the
Disney engineers.
Hop aboard an old-time streetcar pulled by a pampered Percheron or Belgian draft
horse. Their hooves are padded with polyurethane for better traction and a soft
clip-clop sound. You’ll wish the trip was more than a one-way jog. The
Horse-Drawn Streetcars pick up in Town Square and near Sleeping Beauty's Castle.
All aboard! Relax, have a seat. Let the
Disneyland Railroad, featuring
the iron horses of yesteryear, do the walking. This is the best way to get a
quick overview of the eight lands plus a peek at Disney’s own Grand Canyon and
Primeval World. All in 20 minutes. Hop off or on these working steam trains at
the Main Street U.S.A., New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, or Tomorrowland
stations.
